With willpower, one can not only move mountains but also conquer them. This is exactly what 10-year-old Selah Schneitner did. Scaling the 3000 foot El Capitan mountain’s nose, Schneiter created history. In 2019, Schneiter finally described her rock-climbing experience.
Schneiter ascended the summit with her father along with another climbing instructor, while her mother watched with trepidation. After completing the massive task, Schneiter sat down with Outside magazine to talk about her experience. “I just can’t believe I did that”, Schneiter admitted after the difficult climb. Schneiter began climbing the mountain on June 6th, 2019, and reached the mountain’s nose by June 12th along with her father and the climbing instructor. Later, Schneiter expressed, “I was just scared sometimes…I thought it was really fun.”.
Schneiter’s father revealed, “We did this climb for us, it was her energy and her idea.”. Further, he elaborated on how he tried to make his daughter drop the idea of climbing the mountain. However, their daughter was set on the task.

This task also caused anxiety to her mother Joy who was doubtful whether her daughter had the “capacity to do so much work with such a small body.” However, she had confidence that Schneitner’s father would ensure her safety, which he did. Schneiter joins a league of rock-climbing prodigies. Like her, another young climber, Theo Blass also showed unbelievable prowess in climbing at an early age.
Theo Blass’s amazing climbing journey
Though Blass, 13, recently received praise from expert climber Magnus Mitbo. When Blass was 12 years old, he smashed the previous record by completing the 9a grade for climbing. Blass can scale mountains of higher difficulty with a flair of his own.
Talking about his son, his father remarked, “He’s naturally powerful and he’s very competitive.” Blass liked outdoor climbing from a young age, and according to his father, has the desire to accomplish more laurels. It won’t be surprising if Blake breaks more records at a very young age.
