The Nebraska Huskers Women’s Volleyball team is currently ground zero of every NCAA volleyball fan and critic. The Huskers have managed to outplay every opponent they faced and are currently reigning with an unbeaten streak of 24 wins. But, even the champion of the champions comes with loopholes. And the Huskers are no exception.

Undoubtedly, the Nebraska Huskers have shown immense fortitude and dominance in every game. However, they have faced some problems in away games. Although Nebraska aced all its matches with clean sweeps at home, it ran into very close calls on the road. Huskers fans will definitely love to forget their recent away match on November 3.

The Nebraska Huskers women’s volleyball team ran into deep trouble in its match against Penn State on 3 November. The Huskers had defeated the Nittany Lions with a clean sweep in their home game. However, the 16th-ranked team almost shattered the winning streak of the Nebraska Huskers.

The Huskers brutally lost the opening set of the match and their recovery attempt on the second set was immediately snubbed. Fortunately, though, Nebraska Huskers regrouped and overcame a potential clean sweep with a highly explosive reverse sweep to win the game. This was the second time in the season when the Huskers almost lost an away game.

While the Huskers emerged from a near-defeat against the Lions, things still look a little unstable for them. The clean-sweeping team of Nebraska Huskers has only managed four flawless wins in away games. To make things more challenging, the Huskers are due to face their biggest rivals, the Wisconsin Badgers on 24 November.

In what would be the second-biggest matchup in the NCAA Women’s Volleyball this season, the Huskers will face the Badgers in a big revenge match. The Nebraska Huskers achieved their current Numero Uno after stealing it from Wisconsin in a really close battle. The Wisconsin Badgers lost their 21 October match by the strand of a hair. That was the only loss they incurred the entire season. Moreover, the Badgers were on a 10-match winning streak against the Huskers prior to their loss on rival turf. However, things will be different when the Huskers are on the turf of their rivals.

Can the Huskers hold their nerves till the end?

The Huskers had badly lost against Wisconsin in an away game last year, with the Badgers silencing them with a clean sweep. Badgers will definitely look to repeat this act in the upcoming match to make sure that Nebraska doesn’t end its campaign with a perfect record. If the Huskers manage to win all their matches, it will water down Wisconsin’s 2021 effort where they enjoyed a spotless season.

The only other team to achieve a flawless season before Wisconsin was Penn State, who reached the milestone in 2009. While Wisconsin already looks very fierce, even if Nebraska pulls off a win, its problems won’t be over. Right after the game against the Badgers, Nebraska Huskers will face Minnesota in their last game of the season.

Interestingly, Minnesota is also a team that defeated Nebraska in a clean sweep in 2022. Moreover, Nebraska’s match against Minnesota falls on 25 November, just the day after facing Wisconsin. Thus, the Huskers won’t have the luxury to rest even for a day after the high-pressure nerve game as they have to get into back-to-back matches on the road. In the face of these challenges, can the Huskers repeat what Wisconsin did in 2021?
