Hunter Woodhall is now being celebrated for the athlete he truly is. Weeks after his wife, Tara Davis-Woodhall, won the gold medal at the Olympics, he showed the world why he’s one of the best para-athletes around. He won his first ever Paralympic gold medal at the 400 meters T62 event, finishing the race in 46.36 seconds. After the victory, he dedicated the medal to his uncle Wyatt Woodhall, who passed away in 2021. This shows the humility the athlete has and how he has never forgotten his roots. Recently, middle-distance runner Nikki Hiltz shared another example of Hunter not only being a great athlete but also a great person.
Hiltz uploaded a post on X saying that they asked Hunter Woodhall back in April about tips on running a 400m race. In reply to this, Hunter gave a detailed step-by-step observation. He said, “Nice EASY acceleration think about big open pushes for 30-50m. Then transition to the backstretch and just think about getting your hips up and running tall and effortless.”
He added, “Like a rock skipping on the water. Get to 200m as easy as you can. Then think of the last 150m as a smooth build up. Don’t gotta gas it at any point just stay tall keep putting force in the ground.” This meant that not only he took time to explain the whole thing to a fellow athlete, but he also did it in a way that is fascinating but easy to understand.

I can’t stop thinking about how perfect @hunterwoodhall ran that race!
Back in April I opened up my outdoor season with a 400m and asked Hunter for some advice on the best way to run one lap.

Nikki Hiltz seems to be a family friend of the Woodhalls. They uploaded a TikTok with Tara Davis-Woodhall back in March dancing on the ‘twin’ trend. This is a trend in which two best friends who have numerous similarities with each other dance together. This shows their closeness to each other. It also shows their friendship with Hunter, which prompted Hiltz to post this. Now, because they posted it, he’s receiving a lot of love and adoration from fans.
Track community reacts to Hunter Woodhall’s reply breaking down 400 meters to Nikki Hiltz
The track community reacted to this post with a huge love for Hunter. One user outlined the fact that he took time out of his day to write this instruction, despite having no obligation to that. This is what makes him worthy of a Paralympic medal. They said, “He obviously took some effort to write a really good, detailed plan for each segment of the race. He didn’t have to do that. That’s a good friend and person. And now he has a gold medal!”. Another user wrote, “USA t&f is so wholesome right now I love it.” This is true, as all the athletes have come together to wish Hunter Woodhall on his medal. This includes Noah Lyles, who told Hunter that he was proud of him.

This sentiment was echoed again by a user who said, “So many awesome people and stories in our sport. Gotta love T & F. Hard to understand why more people don’t get it.” The thought that track and field have great stories is really true. Hunter Woodhall is a prime example of this. Despite losing his legs tragically at a young age, he persevered and looks at where he is right now. A user commented on the fact that Hunter broke down the 400m race in such an easy way. They said, “That is a very, very nice way to break down the 400m.” Thus, it seems like Hunter Woodhall is a very well-liked figure in the community, and for good reasons. He definitely deserves all the adoration coming his way after all he’s been through.
