When it comes to power couples, it is hard to overlook the Olympian-Paralympian duo of Hunter and Tara. Their dynamic built on unconditional support isn’t just about Instagram moments. It has been a journey of walking alongside each other through thick and thin. Just before the Prelims at the 2024 Paralympics, Tara did not waste any time in showing her support. Tara took it to Instagram and wrote, “Prelims tonight. You’ve been grinding all season for this moment. Your journey begins tonight✨ let’s do this. Redemption time, baby.”

And no doubt, the Hunter felt the support and energy on the tracks. He sprinted through prelims in Heat 2, clocking 11.02 in the men’s 100m T64. Thus, sealing his spot in the finals! Italy’s M. Manu (10.69), Germany’s J. Floors (10.92), and Hunter’s own 11.02 were the top three positions. The numbers show that Hunter’s sprints ahead will be anything but easy.

As Hunter Woodhall prepares for one of the toughest finals, Tara is right there cheering him on. She went on to post another story ahead of Hunter’s finals and said, “Let’s go have some fun.”  And that’s not just hype, it only shows the confidence Tara has in her partner, especially since the two have been training together as well. Tara Davis-Woodhall understands adversity better than anyone.

Taras’s journey has its fair share of ups and downs. Remember Budapest last year? She missed the gold by just 9 inches. Last year, wasn’t a wake-up call just for Tara but also for Hunter. That’s not all, Tara was seen wearing a ‘Team Hunter’ tee shirt as Hunter headed to the final. The tee is similar to the one Hunter was spotted wearing during Tara’s race that read ‘Team Hunter’.

What’s at Stake for Hunter Woodhall?

So what exactly woke Hunter Woodhall up? The journey to being one of the greats has not been an easy journey for Hunter. Last year he raced at the World Championships, only to be halted due to his prosthetics malfunctioning. And as someone who grew up with parents who, “never let me use my legs as an excuse to give up on myself,” this championship was only a hiccup. A hiccup that has if anything pushed Hunter to do better at the Paralympics 2024.

Hunter, however, is not new to the Paralympic pressure. At the 2016 Rio Paralympics, he won silver in the 200m and bronze in the 400m. That’s not all! In 2020 Tokyo, he went on to win a Bronze in the 400 m T62. With his mantra of, “Work, inspire, never give up,” Hunter Woodhall sprints on. The Hunter-Tara dup since the mishaps of 2023 have put the work in. And Hunter is ready as ever to leave it all on track.

The two did not just up their training, they focused on their diet and worked out every minute detail of Hunter’s prosthetics. “I’ve started with, let’s make sure that the things we’re relying on, just like a Formula One team would do, are right. Let’s control the controllable and really try to take all those things that can go wrong out of the equation, so we can win more medals,” added Hunter. With everything under control, the stakes are high for Hunter Woodhall. But then again, when has it not been? It’s a chance for Hunter to win that Gold which has eluded him for years and to share his story that already inspires many more to come.
