In a shocking incident, the US Paralympic medalist, Jen Lee, who is a goalie for the US Paralympic hockey team, was robbed of his 3 gold medals over the weekend. Notably, Lee plays sled hockey for the US Team and has been a part of the Olympic Gold Medal winning team at 3 Paralympic Games. Throughout his career so far, Lee has earned 3 gold and 1 silver medal.

However, on Sunday, a thief broke into Jen’s car and stole all his 3 gold medals. The entire incident was caught on camera. Hence, the Paralympian shared the news over social media and appealed to the people to help him identify the thief and get his medals back.

Thief breaks into Paralympian’s car and steals his gold medals

Jen Lee was part of the gold medal-winning team at the Paralympics for three consecutive years- 2014, 2018, and 2021. In addition, he also won a silver medal back in 2013. Understandably, Lee was beyond disappointed to see his worthy rewards be stolen like that.

He shared the CCTV footage over Twitter, notifying people of the incident and requesting help of any kind.

“Around 7:15 pm today at The Rim in San Antonio, TX my car was broken into by this guy and he took the bag containing all 3 of my Paralympic gold medals,” posted Lee.

He also revealed the incident took place late evening on Sunday. At the time of the robbery, his car was parked outside The Rim, which is a shopping center in St. Antonio.

“Asking for help getting them back n getting the word out in any way possible,” he further wrote.

The thief spotted was wearing a black Levis t-shirt with a cap and some Bermuda shorts. He used a knife to break into the car. Once in, he took out Lee’s backpack and set off with it.

Why did Lee have his gold medals with him?

Many fans have questioned why Jen Lee had his gold medals with him. The speculation is such that Lee was probably on his way from or to an event where he motivates young sports enthusiasts with his journey. Notably, he often carries his medals with him as a source of encouragement to the young guns.

Only recently, in March, Jen was at the SABO Warhawks gym to motivate the athletes there. Hence, he is believed to have his medals with him for a similar reason.

However, given the face of the thief is clearly visible in the footage, it is only a matter of time before he is caught and the medals are returned to their rightful owner, Jen Lee.
