US Figure skating Olympic fame, Gracie Gold recently added ‘author’ to her bio with the release of her new memoir. Named ‘Outofshapeworthlessloser,’ the book takes a reader through a journey just as striking as the title. From the rise to fame on an uncertain path to the pitfalls it so often delivered, the Olympian has ensured to offer a reality run of an athlete’s journey through and through.

Gracie Gold published her memoir on the 9th of Feb. The story ghost-written by former New York Times journalist Karen Crouse, was nonetheless overwhelming for the figure skating Olympian who sat to scout through her memories. “It’s not like anything I have done before. It was crazy. It was cathartic, it was fun,” Gold admits to Olympics.com. The star further adds how it was “overwhelming at times… nerve-wracking, but exciting.” 

Though the story was hers to tell, Gracie Gold admits she was often stuck in trying to elaborate to best to convey herself. The part also brought along revelations for the Olympian who found herself encountering the many situations she most certainly hadn’t revisited. “Somethings definitely hurt in a way, even though I thought I’d healed from them,” she remarks. And rightly so, for, the few snippets of her memoir certainly strike a reader with their details and complexities.

After finishing fourth in the championships in 2016, the Olympian reveals to have slipped into depression. Gracie kept on nonetheless until she found herself at a rehabilitation center in Arizona. Herein, Olympics.com’s detailed view suggests that Gold had to struggle with depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. “[In] every fiber of my being I felt like I was unwinding,” she says.
