Legendary tennis player, Martina Navratilova, has always been vocal about her thoughts. When it comes to the sporting world, tennis isn’t the only sport that Navratilova shares her opinion about. Recently, the living legend made a bold statement about track and field athletes on Twitter.

Track and field events are one of the most exciting sporting events. Just like every other sport, it takes long hours of training for these athletes to prepare for the competitions. However, unlike the others, it only takes a couple of seconds to find out the results in such events. Timing plays a very important role in such events. Looking at the stats, Martina Navratilova recently made a remark after noticing the difference in the male and female timing.

The 66-year-old former tennis player, Martina Navratilova, came across a tweet talking about the male advantage in track and field athletics. The tweet shared the timings of male and female athletes in various events. Commenting on this tweet, Navratilova wrote, “Most women’s track and field records are beaten by 14 and 15 year old boys…

Additionally, pointing out the stark difference in the timing, in the original tweet, sports performance coach Linda Blade had written, “Daily reminder to @WorldAthletics colleagues that the male advantage in #trackandfield becomes overwhelming as early as U16. See who wins the competition between boys of age 15 🆚 top women.⬇️ Toggling the T-dial down a notch pointless to fix the performance gap. #WorldAthletics”

However, soon after Navratilova’s statement, several other Twitter users came forward and shared a similar opinion. Many believe that male testosterone is the reason behind the difference. Moreover, the original tweet was just pointing out the facts about the U16 category. But, Navratilova’s statement and comparison of women’s records to 14-year-old boys can hurt the sentiments of many female athletes.
