This Polish surfer is going to be 89 the next week. But his age couldn’t hinder him from relinquishing the battle with the wind and waves. It’s been 40 years since he’s going out in the wild and enjoying every bit of the spine-chilling experience. He now prefers to avoid fierce wind behind the boats and feels comfortable surfing in the mild breeze.
However, as per the latest report of Reuters, Dudek is hoping to be officially certified. He shared, “I didn’t realize that I was the oldest, but I was surprised that I had never met someone close to me (in age) on the water. And that got me and my friend thinking to check in the Guinness Book of Records.” Notably, the present record is held by an 86-year-old. And to surpass the current record, Dudek has to windsurf at least twice this spring.

His friends call him “Junior” and think that he has the zeal within himself to go on making his way with a foil board. But how is his experience of surfing in his hometown of Gdynia on the Baltic Sea? Dudek shared, “The challenge is to learn to surf and to control the elements, nature, because it is a struggle with the wind, with water, with a wobbly board. But if it all comes together and you’re surfing, it’s a lot of fun.”

He is encouraging children to enjoy the sport. “I enjoy teaching others, especially children. (Working with) children is very rewarding and they can learn quickly. I have a large group of students,” he added.
While talking about what he enjoys the most about surfing, the Polish surfer shared, “I practise windsurfing for health and I believe that it is the perfect way to extend one’s life. It is a sport that requires a lot of physical fitness.”
