Home/Olympics

When it comes to the NHL, the Boston Bruins are enjoying a fantastic season. The Bruins’s recent 1–3 victory against the Vancouver Canucks at home is indicative of their status as the league’s top club at the moment. Nevertheless, Bruins forward Brad Marchand was unknowingly hauled down by referee Wes McCauley in the second period.

Mr. Tenkrat, a Twitter user, posted a video showing the Bruins forward getting brought down by the referee. Given the anticipated ridicule he will get from his teammates in the days ahead, Brad Marchand is probably not going to be too happy about this one.

It would have been a foul if it was the other way around

The Bruins were dominating the Canucks on Saturday night, leading 0–2 in the second period. During the second period, Bruins forward Brad Marchand was brought down by an unforeseen barrier. When Brad Marchand fell on the ice, it was because NHL referee Wes McCauley accidentally delivered a rather good body-hit-and-push combo. In contrast, McCauley showed no signs of being bothered by the encounter, despite having earned Marchand’s wrath.

How did this clash occur in the midst of the action? When he skated into the side of the ice, Brad Marchand couldn’t see where the referee was because he was focused on the puck. The Bruins forward collided with the referee as he skated down the ice’s edge, but McCauley wasted no time in responding by taking the forward down. The game continued without interruption, but tensions between Marchand and the NHL officials only increased.

The beef between this NHL star and the officials

A heated game doesn’t take long to convert the ice rink into a boxing ring, with players continuously squaring up. There has been a significant backlash against the league’s officials as their impartiality in making calls has been called into doubt. Marchand, who had been banned before for a similar incident, lambasted the NHL officials for their shoddy implementation of the rules.

Marchand went on Twitter during the Kings’ game against the Ducks to talk about what was going on with Phoenix Copley. Copley was given a five-minute punishment for his part in the fight because he used his blocker to throw a punch. Marchand appears to have taken the issue with Copley’s light sentence, but he tried to justify his own record of receiving harsher sentences for less serious actions by pointing to his own experiences.
