People Aren’t Understanding Hockey and Fans Explain Why

One of the beauties of playing /knowing a sport is banter. Recently, the whole sports world united to discuss a particular thing, hockey. According to a Reddit post, it’s one of the least understood sports in the United States. The post on the online forum read reads, “Hockey is rated as one of the least understood sports in the US – what rule do you think contributes most to that?”

Many members with hockey knowledge as well as knowledge of other sports chimed in on this thread on the hockey subreddit. In the comments section, where responses were varied, they discussed their thoughts. A significant number of people from many different sports communities gathered for the conversation. They also examined a common issue in ice hockey that drives away new fans of the NHL and compared it to other sports.

There is no way that football and baseball are easier sports to understand than hockey, at least based on the rules. People only understand them more because they care to pay attention and watch more often.”

If you aren’t familiar with how the flow of the game typically goes, it’s hard to track where the puck is going next so new viewers are always a step behind.”
