On Sunday, the American sprint sensation Noah Lyles watched a match between the Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets. During a pre-match event he and other three commentators were discussing about an aspiring sprint star of the future Erriyon Knighton from Tampa who appeared along with Lyles at the Diamond League 2023. A person asked whether he had any opinion concerning this youngster, “Let me ask you one question. My homeboy Erriyon Knighton from Tampa is really fast and he is young but he might have to wait may be three more Olympics to win gold medal. The way you’re talking, right?”

Lyles said on that particular incident, “I mean he is amazing talent, you know. He’s got of course going to have to grow and keep growing because I am not letting up. I promise you that, you know. I got American record on my back but you know, I ain’t stopping American Records. I’m stopping after we go way past World Records. All right.” Eventually, the commentator asked him about how many Olympics he would want to attend after this in his career, “How many more Olympics for you?”

The fascinating response of Noah Lyles left the critics and all track and field lovers wondering as to what he meant. “I was doing the math. LA, I’ll be 31. I’m like you know what? I’ll be 35.” “I think I’ll be just right for my last one (attempt), just right?” said Lyles. It seems that he wants to give up the world of athletics after he is 35 – a definite disappointing news for all his fans.
