“I can’t even explain what it feels like to finally accomplish a lifetime goal of being the best wrestler in the world. What a tournament this was for me, a rollercoaster of emotions and wrestling the very best I could.” For Michigan Wolverines Wrestling’s NCAA silver medalist, winning the World Championship gold was indeed a rollercoaster ride.

Stevan Micic said the above words via an Instagram post after he became the first World Wrestling Champion for his home country of Serbia. The young wrestler had the privilege to fulfill this dream while wrestling in front of his home crowd in Belgrade. Interestingly, Micic has now returned to his home of Michigan Wolverines as he prepares for his upcoming challenge waiting for him in Paris.

Stevan Micic recently added a new video to his YouTube channel with the title, “Return to MICHIGAN Wrestling Room! Training at Cliff Keen PT 1 | PARIS 2024: QUEST FOR GOLD – EP 005.” The video showcased the Serbian-American wrestler becoming a Michigan Wolverines star once again as he entered the premises of his alma mater.

Steven Micic had a great time wrestling at college with the blue and yellow hues of the Michigan Wolverines uniform. Now, the 2018 Big 10 gold medalist has returned to train for a gold medal at the Paris Olympics as well. Interestingly, Micic has come back to the same coach, under whom he won his Big Ten gold and NCAA silver.

Sean Bormet is in the sixth year of his tenure as the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines. The Serbian wrestling champ has great faith and trust in the instruction and training of Bormet. After all, the 57kg wrestler has already defeated an Olympic champion via his methods.
