But he’s determined to overcome the challenges. Last month, Suriano raised a lot of eyebrows among fans after failing to show up for the Olympic trials qualifiers. And now, in the latest development, the two-time Big Ten gold medalist looks to be back on the track to secure his spot in the national team as the race to Paris gains momentum.

In the latest post by Wrestlers Grind on X, Suriano can be seen hard at work as he prepares for the rumble in the European capital. “Nick Suriano training at The Garage!“, reads the caption of the post, which is accompanied by a short clip of Nick training with a bulky apparatus to gain muscle mass. Assisted by his coach, Suriano can be seen doing sets of various exercises to make sure his body is ready for the rumble in Paris.

To make sure Nick gets a place in the national team, the 57kg wrestler will have to face a lot of competition from his national colleagues. The list contains names like Spencer Lee, Caleb Smith, and Thomas Gilman. These stars have a large fan following thanks to their exceptional accolades over the years. Justifiably, Suriano is looking to bring out his best form ahead of the Olympic team trials. This is especially important considering his abrupt end to the journey for the last Olympics.

Compensation for Tokyo 2020
While Suriano was en route to represent the USA in the 2020 Olympics, an unfortunate nasal swab test declared him positive for COVID-19. It kept Suriano off the mat for the team trials, rendering him helpless to write his success story on the grand stage. But now, things are looking much brighter for the 2021 Henri Deglane Challenge winner.

Over the years, Suriano has represented three prominent colleges as a wrestler, including the mighty Nittany Lions of Penn State and the Michigan Wolverines. From the looks of it, Suriano is using all his accumulated experience to give his best to compete with the nation’s best to receive his ticket for the Paris Olympics later this year.
