As per the recent NCAA Coaches Poll, the top 20 collegiate wrestling teams have been declared earlier this season. While many teams found a place for themselves in the rankings, some are yet to accomplish a spot. Along the same lines, one of the teams struggling for a spot in the collegiate wrestling team’s ranking is the Wisconsin Badgers. 

Currently, the team is pouring all possible efforts to clinch a winning steak against opponents in the ongoing dual meets. Interestingly, a video clip of the team is going viral on the internet. However, the clip is not about a recent win or loss. Instead, it features a heartwarming surprise by the Wisconsin Badgers to their head coach. 

Celebrating 50 years of wrestling on and off the mat

Recently, Wisconsin Badgers took it to their official Twitter account and posted a glimpse of Chris Bono’s coaching tenure as a part of the team. Along with the video, they penned, “Wrestler. Coach. Husband. Dad. Friend. Celebrating 50 years for @ChrisBono today! Happy Birthday, Coach! Win the Day!

Badgers’ head coach turns 50 today with a remarkable coaching experience he has earned over the years. Chris embarked on the journey to raise the standard for Badgers in March 2018. Currently, he will be entering his sixth season with Badgers, featuring a record of 41-28 at the helm. 

Apart from this, Chris Bono has guided the team through NCAA Championships, 32 conference championships, and 19 all-Americans. Being one of the best coaches across the nation who has helped the team to develop potential off and on the mat, Chris has many more years to go. Therefore, the team is celebrating a double triumph with Chris on his special day.

Wisconsin Badgers’ upcoming matches 

Currently, the Wisconsin Badgers are gearing up to add more wins to their undefeated streak of 3 matches in the last four matches. In the last matchup against Illinois, the Wisconsin Badgers sparkled on the wrestling mat. On Sunday afternoon, Wisconsin Badgers made it difficult for the opponents to survive on a mat with the help of its remarkable roster featuring Isaac Klarkowski, Shane Liegel, Josh Otto, Eric Barnett, and Peter Christensen.

Finally, the team handed over Illinois’ 20-18 loss in a dramatic fashion. Now, the Badgers are igniting for the upcoming showdown against Minnesota this Friday, on 16th February. However, this showdown is not as it seems to be at first glance. While Minnesota will be adding another win to their winning streak of 5 matches against common opponents, Badgers will be competing to end the undefeated streak of arch-rivals.
