Tensions are currently high as several eyes are peeled to witness the epic showdown between the Iowa Hawkeyes and the ISU Cyclones. The Iowa State Cyclones have made a brilliant start to their 2023-24 season and earned victories right from the get-go. Currently ranked at number eight in the NCAA, the Cyclones have won all three duels they have participated in.

In fact, it earned massive clean sweeping victories in its last two matches. While the Cyclones defeated Davidson with a score of 50-0, they stomped the Wisconsin Badgers with a score of 42-0. While the Cyclones have started the season with impeccable stats, they will also have the home-turf advantage over the Hawkeyes.

Moreover, a recent clip of ISU head coach Kevin Dresser showcased that the Cyclones know how competitive the Hawkeyes are and they’re ready for it. However, despite the preparedness and fresh season exploits, there is a fair chance that the Iowa Hawkeyes may overpower the Cyclones. In fact, the Hawkeyes have been having their way against ISU for a long time now.

Will the 26th November episode be another repeat telecast?

The Iowa Hawkeyes and the ISU Cyclones may be old rivals, but the Hawkeyes have always been the dominant opponents. The Hawkeyes are currently ranked number four in the NCAA and have won both their wrestling duals so far. Moreover, while the Hawkeyes lead the 1912 rivalry against ISU with an all-time record of 68-16-2, they are also on an 18-duel winning streak.

Interestingly, 17 of these last 18 wins have come under the helm of Hawkeyes’ head coach Tom Brands himself. While he has never lost a duel against ISU, he has already surpassed ISU’s total number of all-time wins against the Hawkeyes. Interestingly, both universities honor the winner of their annual duel with the Dan Gable Traveling Trophy.

Gable is an ISU prodigy who went on to win the 1971 World Championship and the 1972 Olympics for the US. However, while Gable belongs to the ISU, the trophy has always been with the Iowa Hawkeyes (12-0) ever since its inception in 2010.
