World of Wrestling, established in 1979, dedicates itself to promoting America’s youth and the sport of wrestling. Led by Executive Directors Jack & Shane Roller, they host the largest kids’ tournaments in the country. Wrestlers from all over the country will compete in Tulsa this weekend. With the phenomenal presence of WoW since 1979, the Tulsa Nationals will exuberantly host the youth and the teenage nationals.

However, a recent throwback video, featuring Penn State wrestling’s 2 times NCAA Champion Nick Suriano is doing rounds, astonishing fans. The dynamic lightweight wrestler’s glimpse at the Tulsa nationals 14 years ago is nothing short of marvelous.

Wrestling flashback at Tulsa Nationals

Flo Wrestling took to its official X handle to share the throwback video of the NCAA wrestling champion Nick Suriano. In the video, Nick Suriano seems combatting his opponent, Mario Guillen, Ohio state wrestling champion. This video was from the World of Wrestling events at the Tulsa Nationals match in 2010. As the caption of the video reads What was ”Nick Suriano doing 14 years ago? Competing at @WorldofWrestlin’s Tulsa Nationals! The future stars of tomorrow will be wrestling in 2024’s tournament this weekend and you can watch them LIVE on FloWrestling!”

Belonging to Paramus, New Jersey, Nick Suriano has entrenched his records as the four-time New Jersey High School state champion. He has emerged as the three-time Tulsa Nationals champion, now wrestling for national champion Penn State University.

Before wrestling in the NCAA finals, Nick Suriano had a squad off against the future Ohio state champion Guillen 14 years ago at the Tulsa Nationals. After this match, Nick Suriano received immense popularity for his dynamic performance. As the event is slated to start this weekend, the throwback video serves as a reminder of how the tournament has nurtured talents for years.

The legacy of the World of Wrestling

World of Wrestling’s Tulsa Nationals will take place at Tulsa Expo Square wherein the youth, high school, and college wrestlers will compete for a range of titles. These titles include positions such as team trophy, outstanding wrestler award, and more. According to Executive Director Shane Roller, Tulsa Nationals will have a $12 million impact, but the most prominent impact will be on the kids taking part in the competition.

Roller remarked, ”A lot of superstars of the sport come back to coach youth programs and it’s really cool to see them all here over the weekend.” He further added, “Probably more than any other sport, we have Olympic champions and stuff coming back to coach youth kids.”

Shane Roller, who became the owner recently, is a 3 times NCAA All-American, and a 4 times Academic All-American. World of Wrestling indeed commits to excellence, with a key vision to build the kid’s future in wrestling.
