David Taylor, in his podcast, discussed the viewership issue with the viewership of wrestling and how it can be tackled. Talking about the solution for it, he posted a video on Instagram and the caption read, ?Wrestling?s popularity across the world is continuing to grow, but for it to truly make a big jump in viewership we need point scorers and action. Just wrestling to win is not that entertaining for the consumer. They want to see tech falls and pins just like they want to see KO?s and Submissions in MMA.?

Wrestling is unable to gather the mainstream popularity that other games have. There has been an insurgence of many leagues that feature MMA, Boxing, Muay Thai and other combat sports. In the midst of that, it is harder for technically skilled sports like wrestling. Even though the nature of wrestling is fast and gripping there has to be a constant hook to it.

In the podcast, David Taylor said, ?Need guys to wrestle hard and score points, that?s what people want to see, that?s the equivalent of knockout and submission in MMA?. For Wrestling to be a premier sport a very mainstream approach has to be taken. Putting on a show is the most important aspect.

More than that wrestling has its history in the Olympics. It has changed through time. There has been a huge difference between the game now and then. The contact sport is now much more evolved and nuanced than before. The sheer savagery and barbarism are now something that isn?t part of the package.

Audiences need something to keep them on their toes. At this time wrestling is one of the most technical games and hopefully in the near future it will get the viewership it deserves.
