Amt Elor is all set to dominate the U23 World Wrestling Championships 2023. As she is pouring her sweat and blood to train for the tournament, it would mark her sixth world title in the last 12 months and eighth career gold. A recent story put up on Amit Elor’s instagram handle is captioned, “Battle ready“.
At a mere 19 years old, Amit features an impressive resume with a two-time senior world championship title, a three-time U20 World championship title, and a U17 and U23 World Championships title. In addition to this, she is also the first American wrestler to win each world championship title.
She will be moving to Albania this year to compete for her U23 World championship title. Today, she will compete against her opponent, Zaineb Sghaier, from Tunisia. However, the only attraction at U23 World Championship 2023 is Amit Elor switching from her previously fought 72 Kg wrestling category. Although she will compete in the 72kg category this time, she must switch to the Olympics weight class. The primary reason behind this switch is that 68 kg, 76kg, and 78kg weight classes are unavailable in the Olympics 2028.
In an exclusive interview with United World Wrestling, Amit Elor said, “I’m taking it one step at a time. I’m going to evaluate myself and see how I feel as I start to work toward health, slowly and healthy way to decrease my weight a little bit,”
