The Pan American Championships are proving to be just the kind of booster Team USA needed to kickstart its journey to Paris. After two incredibly successful days in Acapulco, Mexico, the US wrestlers continue to rack up medals in almost every weight class for both men’s and women’s categories. Now, the 2020 Olympic medalist Kyle Dake joins the long list with another triumph.

Dake is easily one of the country’s most notable names when it comes to wrestling. After an illustrious collegiate run, Dake kept pushing the boundaries even further and made his senior wrestling career just as enticing. With three Pan American Championships gold medals, and two US Open gold medals to his name, Dake now bagged another glory moment as the preparations for the Olympics entered their final lap.

Pan American Championships continue to bear good news for Team USA

In its latest post on X, previously known as Twitter, the official USA Wrestling account shared Dake’s feat at the Pan American Championships. After defeating his Ecuadorian opponent in the men’s 74kg weight class with a major 13-0 tech fall win, Dake was looking for his fourth Pan Am title and he didn’t have to wait too long either.

MFS 74 kg – Finals – Kyle Dake wins by forfeit”, reads the caption of the latest post. With that, Dake bagged yet another gold medal for the country in Acapulco. Kyle was seen gearing up for the Pan Am tournament by sparring with some of the country’s top talents ahead of starting his run. And it looks like the tips from his national teammates served him well.

While Dake was met with an unprecedented forfeit in the final match, the tournament went incredibly well for him otherwise. In the first two rounds, Dake stomped over his opponents and made sure his claim for the ultimate prize was established in a definite manner. However, the four-time World Championships gold medalist wasn’t the only one to bring honor to his country.

Team USA’s successful journey continues

On the third day of the Pan American Championships, the USA wrestlers looked determined to take the baton from their previous days’ comrades in style. Nick Suriano and Chance Marsteller both secured one gold each in the 61kg and 86kg weight classes, respectively. On the other hand, keeping pace with the women’s triumph from the last two days at the tournament, Adeline Gray claimed another bronze in the 76kg category.

Katie Gomez also clinched another bronze in the women’s 53kg, while Michaela Beck took home a silver in the 59kg weight class. With that, the USA sits firmly at the top of the medal table and is looking to walk away from Mexico with the team title as well.
