All I See is Gold Academy was established last year in New Jersey by one of the greatest wrestling legends. The meaning of this phrase is enough to describe the vision and hunger of this wrestling prodigy to clinch gold in all wrestling championships. However, it is not a gold medal that has contributed to the wrestler coming under the spotlight.
As the Kunayev Tournament is approaching, wrestlers are leaving no stone unturned to stand atop the podium. Similarly, USA’s elite wrestler is also working hard while shedding pounds in pursuit of 2024 Paris Olympics qualification. But why is he dropping weight just before the upcoming Olympics?

Jordan Burroughs has been shedding pounds to participate in his previous competing weight category. The first gold medal he grabbed was in the 2012 Summer Olympics in the freestyle men’s wrestling 74KG. Eventually, he gained weight and started competing in the 79 kg category. Jordan has never competed in the 74kg category since the 2021 Olympic trials.

Moreover, in the 2021 Olympics trials, Jordan Burrough fell to Kyle Dake and was not able to represent the USA in the Olympics. Consecutively, he gained weight and started competing in the 79kg category, leaving behind his roots. However, he has to return to his prior competing category of 74 kg, which is why he is shedding pounds.
The major reason behind this is the upcoming Kunayev Tournament scheduled to commence on the 3rd and 4th of November in Taraz City, Kazakhstan. With a two-kilogram allowance in this tournament, Burroughs won’t be officially listed in the 74 kg category. However, the decent shed in weight is coming as Burroughs is aiming for the 2024 Olympic Trails on April 19-20, where 79kg is not a weight class.
Will Jordon Burroughs be able to fulfill his Paris 2024 Dreams?
This simply means that to qualify for the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024, Burroughs needs to not only shed weight but also prepare according to the 74 kg weight class. However, this is only one obstacle Jordan has on the path to the Paris Olympics 2024, as other competitors have not only clinched a spot in the upcoming Olympics in 2024 but also have emerged as rising stars in senior wrestling championships.

As per the recent senior world championships results, the top 5 contenders were given tickets to the Paris Olympics 2024. Eventually, Zaurbek Sidakov, Kyle Dake, Khetik Tsabolov, Daichi Takatani, and Georgios Kougioumtsidis emerged as the top five wrestlers in the 74 kg category. Thus, the major competition Jordon Burroughs has to counter in the coming Olympics are these top five world champions.
Indeed, Jordon Burroughs is among the exceptionally talented wrestlers with a proven record of 7 gold medals in the world championships. However, one of his key competitors is Kyle Dake, who has defeated Jordon in previous events. Moreover, it will be an epic showdown in the coming Olympics as the spectators will witness either a defeat or a redemption of Jordon’s 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
