The official Twitter account of USA Wrestling took to release the schedule of the Olympic Trials for wrestling. The post mentions, “Complete schedule for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials–Wrestling, set for Bryce Jordan Center at Penn State, April 19-20 has been released.” It further mentions, “Single-session tickets are now available for sale. Also, there will only be pre-paid parking available for the event.” There will be four sessions altogether at the Olympics team trials. In the 13 weight classes, the champions will advance to the Championship series.

The 2012 gold medalist and six-time world wrestling champion, Jordan Burroughs, is intensely preparing to give his shot at Olympic glory this year. As Burroughs will compete at home soil, he has acknowledged that 2024 will be his last opportunity to lead Team USA for the Olympic berth. Recently clinching gold at the Yasar Dogu International in Turkey in the 74 kg weight category, he is proceeding towards the Olympic trials next month to be held at Penn State in State College, Pennsylvania.
Burroughs has laid dominion at 74 kg and will do so again. He marked his return to the 74kg weight category last year in the Kazakhstan International Tournament, after three years of competing at 79kg. What does his fervent Olympic desire look like?

Jordan Burroughs, after clinching gold at the 2012 Olympics, failed to secure a medal in 2016 and missed out on the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. Returning with renewed enthusiasm to the Olympics one last time, he had mentioned, “I want another Olympic gold, no question. I got one more chance at this.”

He adds, “If I don’t set a hard date, in 2024, I’m going to be like, I don’t know, the Olympics are in L.A., they’re domestic, I might make it, but I’ll be 40 years old in L.A. There’s no way.” Moreover, talking about his passion for wrestling, he reflects, “So when you talk about hunger, it’s deeper than just the desire to win; it’s a desire to be more than just who I am.” Time will tell what’s in the offing for him now.
