Home/Olympics

With four NCAA titles to his name, Penn State’s Carter Starocci is undoubtedly one of the biggest wrestling stars in the country. As the 23-year-old looks to utilize his remaining year of eligibility, Starocci stands on the brink of history. Going for a record-making 5th national title, Carter has made it clear that he wants to leave behind a legacy that will forever seal his status among his peers, and fans can’t wait to see him back in action.

At the Olympic Team Trials, Carter was unexpectedly defeated by NC State’s Trent Hidlay. On top of that, the injury he incurred in his last match of the last season raised several eyebrows about its potential impact on Carter’s performance. However, as the new season approaches, it seems like the young athlete is ready to take on new challenges.

In his recent Twitter (X) post, Starocci sowed off intense training moments to underscore how the beckoning of collegiate wrestling immortality is keeping him motivated. “Seems like these seasons go by faster and faster,” reads the caption of the post as the accompanying images show Starocci breaking sweat while also spending time with his teammates. Understandably, his fans are elated to see him waiting to pounce on the mat.

Spending time in the gym and breaking a sweat in the pool, Starocci looks fixated on progressing his already impressive record. With his post also reading “Chasing after my dreams is my only concern,” it seems like he isn’t in two minds about what he plans for this season as well. As his emphatic statement looks to send out a strong message to his opponents, Starocci’s fans couldn’t be happier with how things are shaping up for him.

Wrestling fraternity in high anticipation

Ethan thinks it’s this strong mentality that sets Starocci apart from any of his peers in the country’s collegiate wrestling circuit. Despite last season’s injury, Penn State head coach Cael Sanderson had noted that Carter isn’t one to let adversities define his career. Taking a cue from that, Ethan looks impressed by the wrestler’s determination to bounce back as the former commented, “Love the drive and mentality. Straight beast mode.”

Winning 61 straight matches, the three-time All-American wrestler Starocci made ripples last season as he claimed the longest winning streak in collegiate wrestling. Taking a cue from that, one fan is assured that Starocci’s emphatic return is only a matter of time as they commented, “Yessir, work all day baby. Setting the standard gettin ready to dominate.

Keep your foot on their necks bruh!!!” wrote another fan, evidently excited to see what the coming months have in store for Carter. With David Taylor’s appointment suddenly making OSU look like a formidable foe, Penn State will have to run for its money to defend its national title this time. But this fan thinks Starocci is more than capable of meeting the challenge head-on.

One more fan also looked impressed by Carter’s ripped physique. Last month, Starocci claimed that his NCAA run depends solely on his own thirst to seal his legacy and will end only when he decides to. Considering that, it’s no wonder that Carter continues to evoke awe among his followers as AlmightDs commented, “Built different!

If Starocci indeed wins his fifth national title, it will be one for the books. While fellow Penn State wrestler Aaron Brooks came close to achieving the feat, it now relies on Carter to attain the milestone which is yet to be claimed by anyone. “Have a great summer and look forward to you having another fantastic season for PSU Wrestling” commented another fan who is as thrilled as we are to see Starocci coming back for one last ride.
