Recently, the Penn State wrestling team embarked on a mission to dominate their worthy opponent, Ohio State, at Rec Hall for a dual meet. While Penn State reigns the NCAA Coaches Poll supreme, Ohio State is ranked seventh. However, as an opponent, Ohio State is no less than Penn State. Therefore, the current showdown is a spectacle to watch where both teams with ten ranking wrestlers come up on the mat. With little surprise, some notable faces showed up to soak into the excitement.

One of the UFC legends, Bo Nickal, a former Nittany Lion sensation, is present at the Rec hall to catch every glimpse of her Alma Mater’s showdown. Given Bo Nickal’s staunch NCAA career before he joined UFC, his attachment to the event is fairly understandable. A social media post disclosed Nickal’s presence in the arena.

To share every possible snippet from the recent enthralling showdown between Ohio State vs Penn State wrestling, Allie Berube, Sports Director @abc27news, took to her Twitter account and posted a couple of photos of Bo Nikal in the wrestling arena. Along with the pictures, she penned, “Look who made it to Rec Hall for tonight’s dual meet vs. Ohio State Penn State legend @NoBickal & Co.” Interestingly, the visit came as role reversal for Nickal, who appeared as a spectator on an arena which he ruled before switching to UFC.

As a member of the Penn State Nittany Lions, Bo Nickal has been a 3X  NCAA Division One champion, twice in 184 pounds and once in 197 pounds. He has also been a three-time Big Ten in 174, 184, and 197 pounds. Beyond Collegiate wrestling, he was a US National Champion in the 92kg category.

Taking his prowess to the international arena, he bagged the U23 World Championship in 2019. With his incredible achievements as a Nittany Lion, he could seem to have denied the allure to cheer for Penn State when they are on 51 straight dual meet wins. Penn State’s coach Cael Sanderson also spoke of the same excitement about such intense battles.

In an exclusive interview with BlueWhite, Cael Sanderson said, “I think this group and probably every group, I mean, they certainly look forward to those big matches…the bigger the match, the more fun it is to wrestle great.” And the duel lived up to that.

Soon after entering the wrestling mat, Penn State started to dominate the opponent team. However, the team faced a major upset at the event at the 133-pound weight class where No. 12 ranking Nic Bouzakis earned a victory over No.5 ranking Aaron Nagao of Penn State, securing a 12-10 decision win. But that did not allow Penn State to lose its momentum.
