As the 2024 Paris Olympics is on its verge, wrestlers are pouring their hearts and souls into the practice to make this year a win. To test their practice and add scores to uplift their rankings, wrestlers are now eyeing the ongoing Zagreb Open Tournament. The tournament is an ideal warm-up stage for the upcoming big games.
Along the same lines, USA’s wrestling team is unfolding its 12 Greco-Roman wrestlers at the event. Previously the Pan American Games was a tough outing for the US Greco-Roman team. Most of the wrestlers got eliminated in the initial rounds. However, this time, the US side seems to look to use the opportunity to its fullest as they have included some prominent stars in the squad.
Team USA looks to defy tough competition

Alongside the Women’s Freestyle wrestling commencing this Friday and Saturday, the Greco-Roman competition is scheduled to take place. As per the recent news revelation from USA’s wrestling, among 12 Greco-Romans, three Olympians, past World team members, and a world silver medalist are included.
Ildar Hafiz competing in the 60kg weight class, Alejandro Sancho at 67 kg, and Mohammed Sebie, at 87 kg have Olympic experience. Apart from these three Olympians, the team will also include 2018 silver medalist Adam Coon wrestling at 130kg, and former World Team Members Peyton Omania, Benji Peak, Spencer Woods, Alan Vera, Josef Rau, and RaVaughn Perfinas.
While various contenders are performing quite well on Zagreb Open’s wrestling mat from Team USA, the team is looking forward to adding more gold medals to the collection. Consequently, the USA’s Greco-Roman wrestling team has been assigned to face a few specific opponents in the tournament.

The hurdles for the US side on the way to Glory
USA’s wrestling team will be unfolding two athletes competing in the 60kg bracket, Hafizov and Hayden Tuma. While Hafizov draws World Champion Nugzari Tsurtsumia, Tuma will be drawing Haodong Cao from China. At the 67kg bracket, USA will be coming up with Omania, Sancho, and Robert Perez third. There are some other tough opponents as well.

Sancho will be fighting the 2023 world medalist Hasrat Jafarov, Omania has Youth Olympic bronze medalist Oleksii Masyk, and Perez will be competing with Lei Li. On the other hand, Sebie is the only entry from USA’s roaster at 82kg weight class who will be opening with 2021 world bronze medalist Roland Schwarz. It remains to be seen how the US side cruises through these togh opponents.
