Withholding the record of the highest world titles than any female US wrestler ever, the 33-year-old wrestling star never shies away from appreciating other wrestling legends. Amid Black History Month, when the whole world is acknowledging the biggest achievements of African Americans, Adeline Gray also took to her official Instagram handle to pay tribute to the first-ever black Olympic wrestler who won a gold medal in women’s freestyle wrestling.

Adeline Gray pays homage to Tamyra Mensah-Stock

The American wrestling legend Adeline Gray once again grasped her fans’ attention as she expressed her special regards to the first-ever black Olympic wrestler Tamyra Mariama Mensah-Stock on Instagram.  Celebrating Black History Month, Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Gray posted a picture of wrestling virtuoso Stock and tagged National Wrestling HOF on her IG story post.

Stock has been recently signed by WWE and seems delightful in the latest post as she carries the gold medal around her neck which she notched at the Tokyo Olympics on August 3, 2021.  After earning this medal, Tamyra Mariama Mensah-Stock got the legacy of becoming the first black woman to win gold in women’s freestyle wrestling.

Tamyra Mensah-Stock also announced her retirement from competitive wrestling and transition to WWE. With a fulfilling 15-year journey, including multiple world championships, she took to express satisfaction with her achievements. She also declined her spot in June’s Final X, which also hints at a temporary hiatus.

Besides Tamyra Mensah-Stock, six-time world wrestling champion and Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Adeline Gray has also cemented her name in world history. Even after becoming a mother of twins, her high spirit towards wrestling did not go down as the American wrestling legend made her inspiring comeback to the US wrestling team. Gray competed in her first-ever championship on April 29, 2023, in the US Open.

Just a few months after becoming a mother, Gray gave tough competition to the 19-year-old Kennedy Blades in the 76-kilogram weight category. She has more world titles than any other female American wrestler in history, returning to World Wrestling Championships with superior ferocity. She also took to win the medal U.S. record-tying ninth world wrestling championships, fourteen months after she birthed the twins.

As she continues to inspire both on and off the mat, Gray’s legacy as a wrestling legend is insurmountable.
