Home/Olympics

The Big Ten Wrestling Tournament has been the centre of attraction for wrestling spectators. Even though Ohio State has been making waves in the tournament, marking a streak of 4 undefeated matches, Purdue wrestling is also following the same track. Although the last match played against the opponent, North Carolina State University, was a loss, Purdue made a remarkable comeback.

In the last two matches, Purdue’s wrestling team secured a win over opponents and showcased prowess on the wrestling mat. The major spectacle was to see Purdue’s wrestling team performance on the mat, making an undefeated streak of 2. The credit for this massive accomplishment entirely goes to the gifted wrestlers of team Purdue on its home mat.

This Sunday was quite fortunate for Purdue’s wrestling as it hosted the annual Boilermakers Duals and made a remarkable comeback in the Big Ten Wrestling. A recent tweet by Big Ten Wrestling was captioned as “Defended the home mat. PurdueWrestling picked up two wins today vs. Indianapolis & Northern Illinois in the Boilermaker Duals.”

While defending on their home mat, Purdue’s wrestling team found that three was the number too favourable for the team. Consecutively, the team clinched a pair of comfortable wins with three pins, their major decisions, and three tech falls. In the opening dual of the day, team Purdue made a success with a win in the 10 matches against Greyhounds.

Team Purdue ended six of its matches with the bonus pounds, providing the largest margin of victory since its last showdown against team Indianapolis in November 2019. While the first pin was rolled by freshman Ashton Jackson, Marcos, Polanco, and Tristan Ruhlman, Dustin Norris and James Rowley picked up their first wins of the year by technical fall.

Finally, team Purdue clinched the match, scoring a remarkable 44-0 score in the match. However, this is not the only triumph celebrated by team Purdue.
