The Michigan Wolverines had come prepared to land vicious strikes on the Penn State Wrestling Team and avenge their longstanding losing streak. However, the Nittany Lions seem to have evaded Michigan’s attack completely. Moreover, even the up-and-coming wrestlers of PSU are proving to be bad news for the Wolverines.
The 125-pound wrestling weight class has always been like a wild trump card in NCAA Division 1 Wrestling. Interestingly, the trump card bout shifted in favor of Penn State Wrestling as young grappler Braeden Davis caused a huge upset. The difference in points created by Davis has completely blown in the face of Michigan.

Braden Davis achieved a near-impossible feat of defeating a wrestler who ranks in the NCAA’s top 10 in any weight class. However, the Penn State Wrestling sensation had no problems dispatching DeAugustino, who is usually a match-winning draw for Michigan.
With this victory, the freshman now has 11 wins in his 2023-24 record with zero losses. The tweet also displayed the current score of the Penn State versus Michigan dual. The Wolverines are way behind as PSU leads by 21-3. While the loss of their top wrestler is definitely stinging Michigan, another fact is making a way deeper cut in its flesh.

Michigan loses home wrestler to the Nittany Lions
Braeden Davis is a class of 2024 recruit for Penn State Wrestling. Davis has a really great high school wrestling career on his resume. In fact, he is a 4x consecutive champion of Michigan State High School wrestling. Despite this, the Michigan Wolverines failed to acquire the talented wrestler. PSU’s head coach Cael Sanderson has now molded Braeden Davis into an even more formidable wrestler.

It doesn’t seem that the Wolverines can avenge their 11-match losing streak against PSU this way. Will this be the 12th consecutive loss for Michigan against the Nittany Lions?
