Home/Olympics

In NCAA Division 1 wrestling, Penn State holds a formidable position because of its winning habits in the tournaments. The Michigan Wolverines know it better than any wrestling program. Just a few days ago, the Wolverines had to receive a disheartening 12th defeat out of the 14 times they faced the NLWC. Not any higher-order formula has worked behind this phenomenal success. But certain change-ups and selections have procured that. As it was visible in the last Big Ten road championship.

On that evening, PSU coach Cael Sanderson believed in a freshman who had been a redshirt wrestler a few weeks ago. That freshman paid for that trust wholeheartedly, and the results fell into place.

Braeden Davis joined the Penn State wrestling camp with a resume full of high school records. He had four Michigan State Championships, individually and being a member of Dundee’s wrestling team. However, in NLWC, the rookie had to prove his mettle by registering matchups five times in the PSU jersey last year.

However, Davies received a late call when the 125-category stumbled due to the injury’s fiasco. The former Olympic champion coach set the teenager on the B1G road ignoring Gary Steen and Robert Howard. In reply, Braeden Davis did what he could do- a victory against a Wolverine.

As a result, the NLWC had the evening in its name and Davis received an emphatic 12th ranking in WIN Magazine’s latest release. As per themat. com, the ranking would give a feel of nectar as in other weight classes, the no. 1-rated wrestling phenoms from NLWC made their berth.

In the match against the Wolverines, Davis found his opposition in Michael DeAugustino, the 4th-place finisher in the 2022 NCAA wrestling title. But that couldn’t kowtow Davis’ resilience. In the same way, last Sunday, he defeated Tristan Lujan from MSU wrestling camp with a satisfying win, shading much less guard. These two victories worked for the freshman when the NLWC camp was already going through an injury-hit wrestling season. The upcoming days might go no different.

The road is in front

The 125-category in Penn State once had Nico Megaludis as the national champion. Since then, the category could not delve into the same success. In the inception of this season, Braeden Davis saw only Robert Howard, while Gary Steen didn’t have much success at the NCAA level. Although Howard made a hasty appearance in the season after returning from an injury.

But to Cael Sanderson, Davis’ achievement in the Army Black Knight Invitational worked as an additional factor. That was the very start for the freshman. The matches on the B1G road are still at stake. So evidently, it would be noticeable how the latest ranking affects Braeden Davis’ performance.
