The Penn State Wrestling Team has struck the Ohio State Buckeyes hard and defeated them in their latest dual at Rec Hall. The Nittany Lions didn’t allow any Ohio State Wrestler to either get comfortable or find room and secured a big 28-9 victory over them. Interestingly, this victory was a revenge letter from PSU for its crushing defeat 15 years ago.

The Penn State Wrestling Team faced a very brutal loss against the Ohio State Buckeyes back in 2009. The 2nd February match saw the Nittany Lions wrestlers failing against OSU as they perished with a score of 7-33.

Penn State Wrestling added a new tweet to its official X account with the caption, “Love our guys!” While the PSU wrestlers contributed their share in the win, the fair share of credit for this victory will surely go to none other than head coach Cael Sanderson.

2009 was the very same year when he was hired as the new HC of PSU in April, after the OSU loss. Today, Sanderson and the Penn State Nittany Lions have returned the favor to Ohio State on 2nd February 2024. With this, Penn State’s act of vengeance is now complete. Initially, however, the Buckeyes were too much, even for Sanderson. In fact, the newly appointed HC of PSU was swept away by Ohio State in his first face-off.

Cael Sanderson appeared as a godsend for the Penn State Wrestling Team. But the wise and experienced head coach also had his greenhorn days. While he prepared the 2009-10 roster of the Nittany Lions for vengeance on 24 January 2010, his efforts came a little short.

While Sanderson’s boys diminished the 7-33 loss to 14-21, they still had a long way to go. However, the 2004 Olympic gold medalist had found a way to counter the Buckeyes. Preparing the Penn State Wrestling team once again, the HC annihilated Ohio State with a score of 42-3 on 19 December 2010, just before the year ended.

Today, the legendary HC enjoys an 11-2 winning streak against Ohio State and extended his win streak to eight wins. Moreover, he has also charioted PSU to ten NCAA wins in the fifteen years he has led the Nittany Lions. This day, however, stuck a unique cord with every Penn State Wrestling fan owing to the significance of today’s date. With its quest for true revenge now complete, will PSU be able to win the 2023-24 natty?
