A series of wrestling matches are unfolding each day with captivating outcomes as the Nittany Lions, Minnesota Golden Gophers, and many more teams, along with their coaches, take center stage while showcasing their exceptional wrestling moves on the mat. Consequently, some of the top-seeded teams offered a cascade of gripping moments along with those who did not find a place for themselves in the collegiate wrestling ranks released by the NCAA coaches poll earlier this year.

Along the same lines, the beginning of the 15th week has offered a glimpse of remarkable moments offered by the teams, with Nittany Lions at the forefront as the head coach of the team, Cael Sanderson, secured his 200th win with the team. However, the Nittany Lions are not alone in standing out at Big 10. 

Top 6 Standouts at Big Ten Wrestling 15th Week

To share ecstatic news and to declare six standouts of this week among the spectators, Big Ten Wrestling took to their official Twitter account and posted a couple of pictures featuring the top 6 teams that have shown prowess on the mat this week. Along with the pictures, they penned, “It’s 𝙎𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙨 time for @ShaneSparksBTN. Who stood out in the past week of B1G Wrestling?

Interestingly, Cael Sanderson’s 200th win did not top the list. But another achievement of the Nittany Lions grabbed the No.1 place on the list.

Penn State registers 1000th win 

Penn State has never failed to offer enthralling showdowns to the spectators. In the last match against Rutgers, the team was in a difficult situation as one of the key contenders on the team, Carter Starocci, was missing because of a sudden illness. However, PSU made all the tables turn as the team handed over Rutgers a 35-3 loss at home.

The major reason for the remarkable feat was, again, the team’s unstoppable roaster. While Terrell Barraclough kept Jackson Turley flat on the mat to secure a 4-3 win at 174 pounds, Lucas Cochran defeated Yara Slavikouski by 8-3. Even though veterans are not seen as a part of Penn State. In the second place is the moment that has been the talk of the town lately.

Penn State gifts 200th triumph to its coach

In a recent showdown against arch-rivals, Iowa Hawkeyes, Penn State came out shining. While competing against each other, the Nittany Lions managed to dominate the opponent team with the help of its amazing roster to secure a 29-7 win.

Consequently, this not only offered the Nittany Lions one more win to add to their winning streak but also awarded HC Cael Sanderson with his 200th career win with Penn State. Amid this, one coach had his time with the numbers.

Chris Bono scores a half-century

In a recent matchup against Illinois, the Wisconsin Badgers team’s igniting performances included Eric Bartnett, Gannon Rosenfeld, and Dean Hamiti. Soon after embarking on the wrestling mat, the team secured a 20-18 victory over Illinois and awarded their head coach a 50th career win. Apart from the teams and coaches. the list showcased individual triumphs as well.

Huskers’ wrestlers pick up upset wins 

Huskers were also among the top contenders featured as standouts. At 125 pounds and 165 pounds weight class, spectators were quite sure about the Wolverines’ win. However, the Huskers turned the table around.

Caleb Smith and Antrell Taylor secured upsetting wins against All-Americans Michael DeAugustino and Cameron Amine, to clinch a 25-7 win over the Wolverines. The fifth place went to the team that suddenly turned the table after a series of losses.

Terps bounce back 

Unexpectedly, Maryland is also part of the standouts this week. Even though the team could not achieve big, it is taking baby steps toward success. Big Ten Wrestling acknowledged the team’s efforts as they collected their second conference win of the season against Michigan State.

After losing four consecutive duals, the Terps are marking the fourth-ever Big Ten and first-time Multiple Big Ten dual wins in the season while securing 28-15. The sixth place went to the team that managed to continue its well-deserved winning streak.

Minnesota is on the winning track

Minnesota is another collegiate wrestling team making waves these days. Interestingly No. 11 Minnesota notched 8 of 10 matches against Purdue this Sunday to add a fifth consecutive conference win to their unbeatable streak. Golden Gophers managed to secure 130 points against the Boilermakers to clinch a 36-6 win.
