The Penn State Wrestling Team is on a spectacular run this season and is highly likely to repeat another championship run. The Nittany Lions are on a flawless 2023-24 campaign right now and are the first-ranking team in the NCAA. After their recent overwhelming victory over Maryland, PSU will now face Ohio State in its next dual.

The major credit for the staggeringly high-performance numbers of the Penn State Wrestling Team will surely go to its grapplers. But, a recent social media post saw Nittany Lions’ legendary head coach Cael Sanderson credit the fans for his team’s success. In fact, he even said that the loyal crowd of PSU holds a significant sway over the match.

Penn State Athletics tweeted a new video via its official X account. The tweet carried the caption, “B1G match up this Friday vs. Ohio State in Rec Hall, see ya there!” The video attached to the tweet showcased several shots of the Penn State Wrestling Team as Sanderson’s voice spoke from the background.

The Penn State Wrestling HC noted, “The fans have a chance to really be a part of the match. They do influence the officials. They do influence the energy of the opponent. It’s just one of those arenas that people can really play an impact by just getting in there and cheering and making themselves heard.”

Sanderson’s words carry a lot of weight as many times, wrestlers just need one extra ounce of energy to avoid a pinfall. When the crowd really gets involved, even true freshmen make it out of a disadvantageous position and emerge victorious. Not taking this support for granted, the Penn State Wrestling Team has requested the cheers of the crowd as they host Ohio State along with their latest sensation.
