In the process, USA men’s wrestling has earned a new name attaining triumph: Cohlton Schultz.
Acapulco, Mexico on the 28th welcomed the first of the wrestling lot battling to grab a spot at the nearing Paris Olympics. Team USA, which has secured seven quotas entering the stage, is in hopes of obtaining 11 more across the competing categories. Cohlton Schultz, going stronger ticked off a box of hope for the team at the Pan American Olympics qualifiers.
Cohlton Schultz, conquering much of the NCAA realm, has grown to showcase his prominence on the national team. Following a gold at the 2023 Pan Am Games, the 130-kg icon has grabbed the opportunity today to lend Team USA a berth at Paris 2024. In a celebratory post shared by USA Wrestling, Schultz succeeded in two bouts against Jorawar Dhinsa and Eduard Soghomonyan to ultimately secure his triumphant feat.

For the deciding match, Cohlton Schultz took on Moises Perez Hellburg, going 2-1, thus, securing Team USA a berth on the 11 hopes. The 23-year-old completed his NCAA season as a three-time All-American, and a Pac-12 champion to make his way to the national team. The yielding performances further, including the win today might bring about a first Olympic run for the youngster. This after he hopped over Tokyo 2020 due to a tragedy that struck him.
Through tragedy and the path ahead
In 2020, Cohlton Schultz was trying to get himself on the Tokyo 2020 wrestling roster. However, just as he was making progress, Schultz faced the tragedy of his younger sister’s demise in a car accident. The situation topped by the COVID stress proved to be a dark time for the youngster. However, his involvement in wrestling helped him get back. “Wrestling was a bit of a getaway for me. My coach is former Olympian Frank Molinaro and he teaches us to have an attitude of gratitude, which helped me through all the highs and lows,” he says.
