Since the beginning of the Pan American Championships, Team USA has been shining on the wrestling mat. The team kick-started the event with Greco-Romans under the spotlight. USA’s Greco Romans roster accumulated seven podium finishes on the initial day of the event. Keeping up with the legacy, Alan Vera and Noah Wachsmuth added two more podium finishes to the team’s total to lift the team’s trophy on Day 2. Day three added more to the triumph.

After successful encounters by the women on day 3, men’s freestyle wrestlers are coming up on the wrestling mat with a heavy weight of expectations. Chance Marsteller kept up with that as he stood atop the podium. 

Men’s 86kg bout adds to glory

After a recent win at Men’s freestyle senior at 86kgs, USA Wrestling took it to their official Twitter account to announce the ecstatic news among the spectators. They penned, “MFS 86 kg – Finals – Chance Marsteller wins by forfeit. Marsteller gets at the Pan-American Championships!

In a recent matchup, USA’s Chance Marsteller was scheduled to compete against Ceballos Fuentes Pedro Francisco in the 86kg weight class. After dominating two opponents along the way, Chance secured his place at the final showdown. However, the 2023 US World Team member’s win was quite easier than the others.

Fortunately, Chance received a gold serve at the plate by Ceballos Fuentes, as the latter did not come up on the wrestling mat for the final showdown. Therefore, Chance Marsteller won a gold medal by forfeit at the Pan American Championships at 86kgs. However, this is not the only accomplishment he has.

Marsteller’s double triumph at the Pan American Championships

Understandably, Marsteller not only stood atop the podium but also punched his tickets to US Olympic trials scheduled this April after his recent win. Day 3 of the Pan American Championships has been quite fortunate for Team USA. Among three Men’s freestyle wrestlers competing at the event, two roared in the wrestling arena while clinching a gold medal.

Apart from Marsteller, Kyle Dake dominated the mat at the 74kgs to secure a gold alongside the US Olympics Trials berth by defeating the opponent Julio Rafael Rodriguez Romero. This has led to spectators on the edge of their seats eyeing more podium finishes on Day 4 by top Men’s freestyle contenders. The wrestling action will resume at 10 a.m. CT on Saturday. Stay tuned!
