The Pan American Championships in Mexico witnessed a smashing victory for US wrestling sensation Katie Gomez. The young wrestler was facing a Cuban opponent in the bronze medal match and ended things with a mighty technical fall. While she displayed spectacular offensive prowess in her match, she also put up a defensive front and didn’t give a single point away.

USA Wrestling tweeted on X to declare her massive win with the caption, “WFS 53 kg – Bronze Medal Match – Katie Gomez 🇺🇸 tech. fall Laura Herin Avila 🇨🇺, 10-0 #WrestleAcapulco Gomez secures 🥉 in Acapulco!” This marks just the kind of boost the up-and-coming wrestler wanted for herself when she qualified for the Pan American Championship.

Katie Gomez has been making her way into the global wrestling scene spotlight one step at a time. The jubilant wrestling sensation has lately participated in several different tournaments, including the 2023 World Wrestling Championship. While she couldn’t medal in her maiden appearance at the event, she now has the Pan American Championship bronze medal with her.

Gomez has been celebrating even the smallest of achievements via her Instagram posts and buzzing her way into the world of senior wrestling. Speaking about her current position in all of this, the Pan American Championship bronze medalist wrote in a post, “Now I’ve got my foot through the door, and I ain’t goin’ no where”. She also spoke about her world championship experience where she gelled with 8x World Wrestling Champ Amit Elor.

Gomez wrote, “What an amazing experience this trip was! To not only be able to help the best, but to be surrounded and learn so much from these amazing women!!💙💪🏼🇺🇸.” Interestingly, the Pan American Championship star also dropped a hint that she’s keen on going to the Olympics. In fact, she already went to Paris on her own to check the French capital out herself.

Pan American Championship bronze medalist aims for the sun

The latest Instagram posts of Katie Gomez show the young wrestler enjoying herself in Paris while getting herself clicked with the Eiffel Tower. These images and short videos show her as a tourist. However, the Pan American Championship bronze medalist is confident that she’ll return to the city as an Olympian.

Adding an Instagram post on 2 May 2023, Katie Gomez wrote, “It’s been one heck of a journey, but I wouldn’t want it any other way. We’re in the big leagues now baby and I’m here to stay. Catch me at Final X, June 10th ;)” The images of the post showed Gomez winning a shield at a national event. Today, she has planted her feet on the international stage with her Pan American Championship bronze. Will Gomez be able to make her way to her maiden Olympics this year as well?
