This year’s Zagreb Open acted as the perfect stepping stone for the 2024 Paris Olympics for the USA wrestling team. Sending a large contingent of wrestlers to the event paid off brilliantly as the US finished on top of the team standings. Now, as the road to the French capital expands, another challenge awaits Nate Jackson & Co., as they look to continue their dream run. Before making the trip to France in July, Team USA will fly to the European nation this week to participate in the Henri Deglane Challenge.

In a recent social media post, a long list of wrestlers has been named who will represent the United States at the upcoming event, and things are looking promising for wrestling fans across the country. Fresh from his gold-winning performance at the Zagreb Open, Jackson will spearhead the charge, while others will add to the attacking depth.

In a post on X, the official USA Wrestling account has announced the team that will take part in the Henri Deglane Challenge (January 19-21). “There will be 43 U.S. athletes competing at the Henri Deglane Challenge in Nice, France“, announces the post. A large and experienced team comprising 43 wrestlers will fly to Nice, France in hopes of retaining Team USA’s winning ways. Along with the two-time All-American Nate Jackson, the team also boasts some more prolific names from the country’s bustling wrestling circuit.

However, naturally, it looks like many of the wrestlers have been given a pass after the conclusion of the Zagreb Open, and yet, the sheer talent on the team is startling. Two-time World Championships medalist and former Big Ten title winner James Green will be competing in the 65kg weight class, along with former national team member Seth Gross.

On the other side of things, it looks like the prestigious Titan Mercury Wrestling Club is determined to etch its name in the women’s division, with 8 wrestlers being named on the list. Abigail Nette, the former Senior World Team member, will also be competing in the 57kg weight class.

On the other hand, national sensations like Forrest Molinari, Kyle Snyder, and Kayla Miracle also managed to secure podium finishes at the Croatian event. Now, it’s to be seen if the remaining steam in the engine is enough for Team USA to generate similar results at the soon-to-begin Henri Deglane Challenge or not.
