Carter Starocci stands on the brink of history. The prospect of being the first-ever five-time NCAA wrestling champ looms large overhead, and the NLWC star is eager to answer. However, recent developments in the collegiate wrestling scene could deter his ambitions. With the 2021 NCAA D1 wrestling champ AJ Ferrari joining the Cal State Bakersfield roster for the upcoming season, Starocci might have to run for his money. But the Penn State star seems unfazed.
Cael Sanderson’s star student took to X on September 10 to send out an audacious message to the former OSU wrestler. Referring to the upcoming NWCA All-Star Classic, Starocci claimed that subduing Ferrari is a task he will have to undertake himself. He went a step further to sneer at the fact that AJ had a tough time finding his home for the 2024-25 season. “University of Nobody Wants You,” jeered Starocci as he took digs at Ferrari’s controversial past.
The All-Star Classic is set to be hosted by Penn State this year, and Carter Starocci has been preparing hard to kick off his final year with the college in style. “Been focused on training, recovery, and business recently,” noted the 23-year-old on his social media update. However, with all the speculations in recent months about his potential clash with Ferrari, it seems like Carter is determined to put all the debates to bed. And he’s even willing to walk the extra mile to do so.

Hinting that Ferrari is a relic of the past, Carter Starocci lashed out: “Another has been ncaa champ that needs added to my collection.” But he didn’t stop there. “…notify the city district so the youth can stay a safe distance away. I’ll go up in weight just to bend you over in front of the world,” announced the four-time NCAA champ with gusto, claiming that “Mr. Fast Twitch” will finally meet his match at the hands of the former on Instagram. Moreover, Starocci also stated his terms for him to lock horns with the newest CSUB wrestler.
“Winner takes the entire match purse. On top of that we each put up 300k. Winner takes all. Loser goes back to talking shit on social media. And finally when I win you must tattoo “Starocci is my NATTY DADDY” in bold font on your chest,” elaborated Starocci, as he claimed he would gladly bash Ferrari should the latter agree to the conditions. But will his boastful statements see a proper culmination?

For the first time in five decades, the Cal State Bakersfield wrestling squad failed to make it to the NCAA Championships. A thoroughly disappointing result for such a storied program, undoubtedly. Naturally, when head coach Luke Smith announced the news of Ferrari joining the Roadrunners for the upcoming season, fans were elated.
While the long speculation about Ferrari’s wrestling future was finally clear, it once again raised the debate of whether he would be meeting Carter Starocci on the mat to satiate the fans’ wishes to see them crossing paths. On the other hand, Ferrari has been walking on bumpy roads for a long time. With rumors of him joining the Iowa Hawkeyes being common, many expected to see him donning the black and gold stripes. However, that didn’t pan out, and Ferrari went back to ponder his chances of debuting in the MMA. But fate had a different plan, and Penn State’s star wrestler wanted in on the action.
Starocci leads the charge for Penn State in the 174lb weight bracket, along with teammate Alex Facundo. However, it looks like he’s not unwilling to step up and eye the opportunity to establish himself as a formidable force in the 197lb bracket as well, just so he could show Ferrari his place. But will things ultimately fall into place and give the fans the thriller they so dearly want? What do you think? Tell us with a comment.
