When it comes to arch-rivalry, Michigan Wolverines and Nebraska Huskers are among the most etched names after Iowa and Penn State. Recently, arch-rivals Michigan Wolverines and Nebraska Huskers locked horns with each other for a showdown in Nebraska’s Devaney Centre. Coming off with a memorable win against No. 2 Iowa Hawkeyes at home, the Wolverines stood at 6-3.

Understandably, Michigan was trying to keep up with the momentum against the Huskers. After a dominant win against the Hawkeyes, spectators were anticipating Michigan’s win. But Nebraska wrestlers took away a 25-7 victory with their staunch performance.

To share this ecstatic news among the spectators, Nebraska Huskers took to their Twitter account and posted a picture of the team while announcing their win. They penned “Statement Made.” Interestingly, the statistics were not in Nebraska’s favor.

Michigan came here after a 24-12 win against Iowa in their last matchup. This same Iowa team handed Nebraska the dual loss this season. But the Huskers did not let that dominate them during today’s showdown and the No. 5 team poured all their efforts into winning the final home dual of the season. Consequently, they folded Michigans with their lowest score in a dual this season. The tone of the duel was set with the first three matches of the day.

Nebraska set the winning course early

The first three matches of the day witnessed top-ten-ranked opponents facing off against each other. Taking an early lead, Nebraska emerged victorious in all three matches. At 125 pounds, Nebraska’s Caleb Smith trailed higher-ranking opponent Michael DeAugustino by 8-5.

Following Caleb, Jacob Van Dee took charge by tying No. 4 Dylan Ragusin at 133 pounds. In the last few seconds, Van Dee turned the tables by securing a point to claim an upset 3-2 win. Nebraska’s win got its base strengthened as Brock Hardy gave an action-packed 13-9 win over No. 10 Sergio Lemley. Wins followed in other categories as well.

Ridge Lovett, took down No. 6 Austin Gomez 11-4 at 149 pounds. At 157, Peyton Robb, wrestling in his final home dual, secured victory against 10th-ranked Will Lewan. Antrell Taylor made it Nebraska’s sixth consecutive with his win over Cameron Amine. From the Michigan side, Shane Griffith and Lucas Davison secured victories. For its next encounter, Nebraska is up against Penn State wrestling on 18 Feb.
