The Nebraska Huskers wrestling team never shies away from making it to the spotlight. As the team prepares for the upcoming NCAA championships, one of the team’s alumni clinched victory at the 2023 Pan American Games. The 3-time All-American wrestler and the University of Nebraska alumni, Tyler Berger, stood victorious on Santiago mats.

The Nebraska Huskers alumni joined the Pennsylvania Regional Training Center as an assistant coach in September of 2023. He started off the season strong by winning the US Open in Las Vegas, wrestling at 70kg. He made the national wrestling team for the second straight year. Looking forward to Paris Olympics 2024 he has dawned his practice boots.

The Nebraska Huskers Wrestling were filled with pride and joy for their alumnus after he finished his wrestling campaign at Pan American games with a gold. He defeated Franklin Maren Castillo (Cuba) by 3-0 in 74 kg finals. @huskerwrestling shared a post by USA Wrestling on their Instagram story.

The three-time All-American wrestler with a 116-32 record had a good collegiate wrestling career. He posted an overall mark of 28-4 including a 16-1 dual record. He was also the finalist at the Big Ten championship and the NCAA Championship.

A shot clock point was scored by Berger and finished it with a two point attack. He did it with just nine seconds left on the clock in the first period. This win has come at the right time for the wrestler. Stepping into a career with Pan American gold is adding more value to it.

Now, as the Paris Olympic approaches, the athlete is all girded up to show his magic in the French capital.

Wrestling golds at Pan American Games

Zane Richards (57kg) defeated his opponent Oscar Tigreros (Colombia) with a technical fall. while Mason Parris (125kg) took an easy win over Jose Diaz (Venezuela). Kyle Snyder (97kg) defeated Arturo Silot Torres (Cuba) by 14-4 in the finals.

The four horsemen of wrestling dominated the Pan American games. Tyler Berger joined his fellow wrestlers to finish the Pan American campaign with four golds. Now with the Pan-American in the bag, the wrestlers will be focusing on the Olympics. With these golden glories USA?s campaign has now conquered a total of 202 medals in the history of wrestling and 109 of them are gold.

The Cuban wrestler Franklin Maren after his defeat against Tyler told Panamsport.org in an exclusive interview,??The athletes from the United States are very good, even more so in freestyle wrestling. They managed to take all four medals. We wanted to take at least one, but it wasn?t possible.??The silver medalist had nothing but praise for his fellow wrestling opponent.

The strong wrestling season is something that the American wrestler would look forward to continuing. The stage is set at the Olympics 2024 and the podium awaits the wrestling team of Team USA.
