Kayla Miracle is indeed a trailblazing Olympian in wrestling, becoming an LGBTQ+ pioneer in this domain. Overcoming challenges with her supportive father, Lee Miracle, she has embraced the sport to excel. As the most anticipated United World Wrestling (UWW) Ranking Tournament took place on 12, January, Friday. U.S. athletes, including Miracle, gave tough competition to their opponents.

They combated with full zeal and enthusiasm at the Zagreb Open. Two-time Senior World medalist and Greco-Roman athletes kicked off in the first wrestling event of the Olympic year. Past World medalists Kayla Miracle and Forrest Molinari went ahead to compete in the final match, clinching silver medals.

Olympian Kayla Miracle clinches silver medal

The USA wrestling world cherished the grand victory of Miracle and Molinari taking to its official X handle to share the update. The recent post caption reads ”Past World medalists Kayla Miracle (62 kg) and Forrest Molinari (68 kg) claimed silver medals in women’s freestyle @wrestling at the Zagreb Open. Greco-Roman started on Friday, with three U.S. athletes who competed.  #WrestleZagreb’’

After marking her legacy at the world wrestling championships, the 26-year-old wrestler prodigy Miracle went on to compete in women’s freestyle finals at the Zagreb Open. In her opening match in the tournament, Miracle secured a 10-0 technical fall over Virginia Jimenez Fernandez of Chile. She defeated the Neutral Athlete Veranika Ivanova in the quarterfinals in a close match.

Then a 4-2 decision over Ana Godinez Gonzalez of Canada secured her finals berth. She had to knock off agist three-time World champion Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kyrgyzstan to clinch the title. However, a 7-0 loss made her remain content with silver. Meanwhile, another wrestler in the 68kg category also clinched silver.

Molinari takes forward the medal tally for the US

2021 World bronze medallist Forrest Molinari defeated Yuliana Yaneva in a tough 3-3 match to start her competition. After defeating, two-time age-group World medalist Tetiana Sova Rizhko of Ukraine  Molinari advanced to the semifinals with a 5-1 score. Forrest Molinari advanced to the finals defeating Qian Jiang of China, 2-0. In the final match, however, she was stopped by another Chinese, two-time World medalist Feng Zhou 2-0. Another U.S. wrestler has also competed on Friday.

Aduago Nwachukwu had gone 0-2 at 62 kg during the match. In Greco-Roman, all three U.S. wrestlers, Benji Peak, Ravaughn Perkins, and Spencer Woods, who have been past Senior World team members, were defeated in the first match. Now, competition will be continuing on Saturday, in the final four women’s freestyle weight classes (76, 72, 57, and 53 kgs), including the Greco-Roman weight classes at 67 and 63 kgs.
