Notably, Kyle Dake stands at 5’9″/1.75m and weighs over 163lbs/74kg. The 33-year-old’s ability to wrestle his opponent down is second to none. He has all the moves in his arsenal, which made him a four-time World Champion. He won back-to-back titles at 79 kilos in 2018 and 2019. Moreover, he repeated the same feat in the 74kg category in 2021 and 2022. For those new to wrestling, that’s not a straightforward feat.
Likewise, he announced his arrival in style during his first World Championship tournament by outscoring his opposition 37-0. Yet always, people call him special. He differs from an average Olympic wrestler in terms of competitive spirit. From the start, the assistant coach at Cornell, Jeremy Spates, thought he could handle all the rookies easily. But not Kyle.
“Normally I would dominate freshmen, especially 141-pound freshmen. But Kyle was different from the beginning. He was already good in every position. If you had asked me then if he would be a four-time national champ, I probably would have said no because it had only been done twice,” mentioned Spates.
“But I knew immediately that he would be very, very good,” mentioned Jeremy Spates, speaking of Kyle Dake’s aura, according to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Even the great Jordan Burroughs had a taste of what it was to face Kyle the Dake!
What makes Kyle Dake a promising Olympic Wrestler?
Once, Jordan Burroughs was on top of the world. He could dominate any opponent left, right, and center as showcased by his gold medal victory at the 2012 London Olympics. But when he faced Kyle Dake in Tokyo, Burroughs was 33 and Dake was 30. After multiple attempts to not defeat him, Dake took the Olympic gold medalist to three rounds and scored the victory.
It was ideally like a passing of the torch ceremony!
Every time he steps into the ring, Kyle exudes confidence, technique, and raw physical power. It all happened from his upbringing at a young age and spoke of his parents.

His dad woke up and finished work early to push his son and improve his wrestling career. Therefore, Kyle Dake is special. Hopefully, all those efforts could take him to the gold medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. Do you think he can do it? Let us know in the comments.
