FloWrestling recently tweeted a video on X with the caption, “Stevan Micic and Ismail Musukaev trained together as teens in Dagestan, then won world titles together 10 years later!” While the Michigan Wolverines wrestler emerged victorious in the 57kg category at the 2023 World Wrestling Championship, Musukaev clinched the 65kg title.

The video showcased the two exchanging a brief dialogue right before the 2023 Belgrade contest. After both of them wished each other good luck, the Michigan Wolverines wrestler said, “Tell him to come to America. Yeah, come on. Mohammed always saying, Oh, Ismail doesn’t want to come.”

Turning to the camera after Musukaev left, the Michigan Wolverines grappler said, “I’ve known Ismail since I was like 17. We trained in Dagestan together. I trained with Uguyev as well. I have a video. I’ll have to find it and show you guys. It’s crazy. We wrestled like a 10-minute float. It was live, but kind of like push-push or whatever… It’s just awesome. I’m like 17 and he’s like 19 in Dagestan.”

From the footage, it seemed like the Michigan Wolverines star misses his younger days with Ismail Musukaev. However, while the two may not be training together, they will aim to win two Olympic golds just like two world golds. In fact, Micic is already training with an Olympic Champion to reach this goal.
