Mike Manning joined the University of Nebraska as the wrestling team’s head coach in 2000. Since then, the Huskers have finished in the top ten at least twelve times. In the last NCAA season in March, Manning saw four of his athletes earn all-American honors. Now, he desires to extend that glory to all his athletes and charted a course to it for smooth sailing.

In a preseason inside training video montage uploaded on the Husker Wrestling Instagram page, the coach can be heard saying, “Talks cheap, Actions speak in multitude…Actions speak louder than words. You gotta be able to function when you are tired. Get people tired”. These pearls of wisdom from the wrestling’s stalwart coach will make all the difference going forward

Most people look at wrestling from a physical standpoint, but Mike Manning understands that it is a mental game. The win depends on a strike at the opportune moment. To add to the lethal combination of wrestling moves and daring attitude, Manning emphasizes the importance of tiring the opponent. If correctly executed, the rivals would be too tired to mount a counterattack. After making the top ten ranks for many years in a row, Coach Manning wants to see his wrestlers secure the highest place on the leaderboard.
