Home/Olympics

Bo Bassett seems to be finally closing in on the biggest career decision of his life. As his tenure as a high school phenom comes to an end, at the Bishop McCort Catholic Academy, Bassett is going over all the best college programs available to make his final call. Initially, the high school wrestler had shortlisted a total of 80 top-notch colleges. However, canceling out one at a time, Bassett is now left with just a handful. While the teenage phenom has already visited the likes of Penn State and Arizona State, his inclination towards David Taylor led Oklahoma Sooners!

Well, it is very well a possibility that Bassett will finally choose the OSU, coached by the 2020 Olympic gold medalist. And the duo has had some interesting interactions over the course of the last few months. Taylor initially stated that OSU would be the perfect destination for Bassett to nurture his talents. The ‘Magic Man’ also elaborated how the institution would be a great program to enhance Bassett’s already blooming skills further. On the flip side, the high school phenom also looks to be quite impressed by the Olympic champion.

Now, while David Taylor left Penn State to coach OSU, the decision was not received well by the Penn State fans. They termed Taylor a ‘traitor’ for ditching his alma mater for a new institution. Reflecting on Taylor’s credibility as a coach, Bassett expressed his excitement about working with the Olympian. He looked utterly impressed by Taylor’s plans for the Oklahoma Sooners. Bassett mentioned that Taylor was there not just to be in the top four but to take the OSU wrestling to a whole different level

Well, as if these were not enough hints, his recent visit to OSU has only strengthened the rumors about Bassett coming under Taylor’s guidance. Having had a solid training session at the University, Bassett seemed utterly impressed with how things are being done under the watchful eyes of David Taylor. Taking to his X account recently, Bassett wrote, “Amazing workout with Coach Gilman. He brought it for two hours! Blessed to little so many small details. His enthusiasm was contagious. I loved the talk about enthusiasm and how it means inspired by god. @OSUAthletics  @CowboyWrestling @thomasgilmanusa @magicman_osu”

Surely, this was enough hint from Bassett to point out that his mind has been significantly impacted by the system at Oklahoma. However, there is still some time left for the Bishop McCort Catholic Academy’s star prospect to give his final verdict. After all, Bassett wants to make sure that once he commits to a college, it will become his home.
