Home/Olympics

Penn State Wrestling is currently in its golden era, which began twelve years ago. The Nittany Lions turned from just another NCAA Division 1 wrestling team to the status quo bearer. A significant share of the credit for this newfound status of PSU goes to head coach Cael Sanderson. The legendary coach has charioted his team to 10 national titles in the last 12 years and is also going strong this season.

Cael Sanderson doesn’t just empower Penn State Wrestling to win but to win big. Because of this mentality, the Nittany Lions have already achieved two natty four-peats and are on their way to securing a threepeat this year. Despite this, Sanderson still has more distance to cover to become the greatest coach of all time. However, a social media post suggests that the PSU coach stands a chance to acquire the GOAT status for both himself and his team.

MatScouts recently added a new tweet on X making a big Penn State Wrestling revelation. The tweet carried the caption, “#3, #5, #2, #12, #1, #7, #1, #5, #1, #1. That’s PSU’s individual rankings. 4 champs, 5 finalists, nine AA’s and a blood round. If they wrestle to their rankings they’re looking at 155-160ish team pts. The record is Iowa’s 1997 team with 170pts on 5 champs and eight AA’s.”

This comes as great news for the Penn State Wrestling Team and its roster, which has hijacked the top ranks in every weight class. While the Nittany Lions are leading the ranking charts, they are also winning every match as a team.

As a result, Cael Sanderson’s squad hasn’t been bested so far this season and is on an unbeaten run. Currently, Olympic legend and former Iowa Hawkeyes HC Dan Gable stands with the highest number of NCAA wins with 15 titles. Sanderson of Penn State Wrestling needs six more wins to surpass him.

But, if he obtains the highest team score, he and his team will surpass every other NCAA coach and team in history. Interestingly, while Penn State Wrestling is winning its matches, it is also putting up a massive number of points on the scoreboard every time. Their high-scoring nature frustrated a fellow Big Ten coach in their last dual.

When Maryland’s Alex Clemsen lost control

Penn State Wrestling recently defeated the Maryland Terrapins with an overwhelming score of 42-6. But, while the Nittany Lions clearly were the superior competitors, they still didn’t go easy on any of the Terrapins. This, however, enraged Maryland’s coach Alex Clemsen, who came very close to PSU’s coach Casey’s face.
