On the verge of the Paris Olympics, wrestling icon David Taylor could remember his hay days on the mat when he was 21 years old, championing domestic arenas. That helped him storm into the US team trial for the 2012 London Olympics. The occasion didn’t suit the NLWC spearhead. However, that couldn’t stop him from pinning down the defending Olympic champion, Jordan Burroughs. In a roller-coaster of memory, David Taylor could all count those as the glitz of a wunderkind into the ring. But the wrestling continuation factors for him are different now. 

Before the Olympics, the 33-year-old wrestling numero uno dissected several parts in a face-up with FloWrestling. The humane part remained jubilant. 

David Taylor explains the change in perspective

The latest FloWrestling interview with David Taylor was meant to focus on the personal life of the reigning Olympics champion who wears many hats. David Taylor didn’t dishearten the fuming interest. So when the judicious host asked him about the comparison of his initial days and the days of recent, the world champion wrestler couldn’t obscure the answer. He replied, “by any means it’s not easier now, but I just have to do it little bit differently than what I did before.” Keeping the pace, David also lit up the rendezvous when he argued over grappling being his only tryst to the day. He opened up about having his other roles in his possession, as without those, he “wouldn’t be as successful.” That’s what made the caption of the snippet on X posted by FloWrestling. 

In the interview, David also brought up the 2018 occasion to name sustainability as the driving factor for his longevity. Reportedly, in 2018, David Taylor received the conferring of titles like the John Smith Award, being the Freestyle Wrestler of the Year in the USA. 2023 wasn’t an aberration as in that year, he defeated Hassan Yazdani again to stay at the top of the World Wrestling Championship. That’s where the suitability factors showed up.

The sustainability factors before the Olympics 

After defeating the arch-rival in the WWC, David Taylor acknowledged the contributing factors to his success. However, his family remained the prime factor. To Olympics.com, he expressed, “I miss them so much but I’m also doing it for them. I want them to be proud of their dad, for having some heart and some grit, something that in society you don’t get to do very often.” For the 86-kg mythical champion, that’s where sustainability chimes in.

Additionally, he enjoys his coaching hat as well, which he named in the FloWrestling interview as the factor. The M2 Training Center is the latest one to share that occasion. The three-time world champion himself rejoiced in the Olympics, for instance, to bring the training camp into the light. Now the Paris Olympics might want to see him for one last time.
