Is Amit Elor the future of American wrestling, or just another flash in the pan?

Can you believe there is a wrestler who hasn’t lost a match in five years of her professional career? That’s incredible, right, but true in all senses. We are talking about the 20-year-old American wrestler Amit Elor, whose extraordinary wrestling prowess puts even experienced wrestlers in doubt of their abilities. That’s true; Amit Elor has yet to be bested at any senior international wrestling match.

Such was her brilliance that she put Buse Tosun, the reigning world champion, to dust in her very first round at the Olympics. Now, she has smashed her way to the 68 kg women’s freestyle Olympics final. Besides the sheer talents, the incredible build of Amit Elor plays heavily in her success as well. We took stock of her incredible physique that powers her moves and allows her to smash one opponent after another.

Amit Elore is only 20, and she has been unbeaten for the last few years. That speaks volumes of how good she is at her game. Do you know she is the youngest Senior World champion in U.S. history, claiming the title at age 18 in 2022? Interestingly, the average age of wrestlers participating in the Olympics is around 26.5 years. It adds another accolade to her already brilliant career since she has bested wrestlers four to five years more experienced. For reference, Buse Tosun, whom Amit trampled in round one at the Paris Olympics, is 28 years of age.

That brings us to her age. Amit Elor is participating in the 68 kg category at the Olympics. This makes her a bulky wrestler, and out of the five weight categories, Amit participates in the second heaviest one. Coming back to her height, Amit Elor stands at 5’7″, which is nothing out of the ordinary. Most women wrestlers typically fall within the 5’5″ to 5′ 9″ range. In comparison, Tamyra Mariama Mensah-Stock, the 68 kg women’s freestyle gold medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, stands at 5 ‘5 only.

Have an interesting take?

Buse Tosun wasn’t the only wrestler who faced the fury of this team; the USA was number one in 68 kg. She put Poland’s Wiktoria Choluj to tears with her clean 8-0 score in the quarterfinals. Amit Elore has dominated every major wrestling event outside his maiden Olympic campaign as well. She is a two-time gold medalist in the 72 kg category at Senior Worlds. Not only that, Elor is also a Pan American Championships gold medalist as well. Only an Olympic gold is missing in her portfolio, which doesn’t seem so far-fetched given her ongoing run at the summer events.
