An online video recently displayed 2023’s US National Champion displaying her massive takedown in a tournament as she prepares for a major tournament.
Marlynne Deede is a 4x All-American wrestler who recently won the 2023 US National Wrestling Championship. The University of Iowa student is part of its inaugural women’s wrestling team and is currently preparing for the NWCA All-Star Classic. In fact, her video on social media is an indication that Deede might be going to open the tournament with a bang.

Marlynne Deede is one of the top collegiate wrestlers in the US who has a number of accolades in her kitty from several tournaments. FloWrestling recently uploaded a video on its official X account, where the 155-pounder was caught with her offensive brilliance. Deede could be seen getting to her training partner within seconds of starting the bout. She could be seen moving instantly and securing a takedown, or a highly advantageous position. The NWCA All-Star Classic starts on Tuesday, 21 November, and will pit 28 elite wrestlers from 21 esteemed universities. Penn State is hosting the 2023 iteration of the tournament. Deede is moving up a weight class for the tournament and will compete at 160 pounds. However, this isn’t the only change the Iowa wrestler has made. In fact, she wasn’t even an Iowa Hawkeyes member until the ‘covid year’.
Covid year, priorities, and a dream for the Olympics

Marlynne Deede recently made a switch to the University of Iowa to represent the inaugural team of the Iowa Hawkeyes. She previously wrestled for Augsburg University and won the 2022 NCWWC as its student. This is the first major tournament Deede is appearing in donning the black and gold singlet.
She still had to complete a year in college because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and she moved to Iowa to complete it. Speaking about why she made the change, Deede said, “Iowa is the place to be when chasing Olympic dreams. I know there will be support here after I’m done with my college eligibility.”
