What initially came in as an update to build intrigue in fans and prepare them for the competition, backfired hard. The Olympics committee announced the official pictograms for all the Olympic sports. These would be the symbols or logos for all the sports competitions held in the Paris Olympics. According to the committee, they add to the visual aspect of the sport.
However, the Olympics logo did not sit well with the fans, and comments about its complexity arose. Evidently, fans were expecting something simpler for logos of their favorite competition. Comments began by bringing up hilarious comparisons about the color complexity and symbolisms, “They’re so confusing. What are those? They look like symbols from a chemistry class” and “They look like the wingdings font you used to get on Microsoft word in the 90’s”.

Many pointed out that while a design needs to distinguish one sport from another, these logos did not serve the purpose. Although they contained significant elements of each sport, fans felt that they looked too similar. Nevertheless, the curiosity remains. What’s in store for Paris Olympics 2024?
