The Nebraska Huskers is probably one of the teams that has seen the most changes to its roster now. Most of these changes have been in the offensive department. Adding to that list, outside hitter Ally Batenhorst is the latest member of Nebraska who has entered the trading portal.

Despite these changes, the Nebraska Huskers still retain their top talent and most of their starters. While the exit of Batenhorst sort of blindsided the Huskers, this can also serve as a good opportunity for the team. In fact, John Cook has several options to go for to make the most of this trade. So, what is the current lineup of Nebraska like and which direction will it move forward in?

The Nebraska Huskers have totally revamped their offense for the 2024 season. This was the department that had become the Achilles Heel of the team in 2023. However, the upcoming season will see them soaring high for those kills along with those blocks and digs. The stars of the 2023 lineup have received two new additions for the next season.

Former Minnesota player Taylor Landfair has been one of the biggest traded players throughout the off-season. The 2022 Big Ten Player of the Year will be joined by the newest recruit of the Nebraska Huskers, Skyler Pierce. Both these women have proved their mettle considerably, and will now contribute to Nebraska’s future paydays.

Moreover, the Nebraska Huskers also have outside hitter Lindsay Krause who will play this year and hopefully be free from injuries. The team also has 2023 Big Ten Setter of the Year Bergen Reilly to regulate and feed these players with the ball along with senior setter Kennedi Orr. While this was the offensive unit, the defense will have the 3x All-American Lexi Rodriguez, Laney Choboy, and Maisie Boesiger.

The team will also receive a new addition in the form of another high school star named Olivia Mauch. Apart from these defensive specialists, the team will have middle blockers Andi Johnson and Bekka Allick. With this, all positions seem to have been covered properly, except the middle blocker position. Moreover, under offensive classification, Beason is the only opposite hitter on the team. But what can the Huskers do about this?

The Ally B trading card owned by the Huskers

The most recent development in the camp of the Nebraska Huskers is the imminent exit of Ally Batenhorst. But this can be utilized as a hidden opportunity by the team. While Nebraska is losing an outside hitter groomed by John Cook for three years, they also stand a chance to gain a formidable middle blocker in exchange.

While Allick and Jackson have performed well in the 2023 season, they can still use another blocker with more experience. The Ally B trading card will definitely provide the Nebraska Huskers with a great trade as well since the outside hitter was a regular in the matches.

The Nebraska Huskers can also go for an opposite hitter who will take care of the position along with Merritt Beason. The Texas Longhorns match in the finals saw Nebraska getting very predictable as the match progressed. This is a big flaw in their attack and needs a patch as soon as possible. Considering that John Cook can successfully plug these holes, he will have a true championship lineup in 2024. Do you think Nebraska will be able to win the upcoming 2024 season?
