Kelly Sheffield has elevated the Wisconsin Badgers volleyball program to heights that were unprecedented. From competing in the sweet-16 for ten straight years to winning the first NCAA Championship in program history, Coach Sheffield’s achievements will go down as legends on Wisconsin grounds. However, that doesn’t warrant an absolute absence of some friendly leg-pulling. The Badgers love their head coach, and they also love some friendly banter.

In a recent video clip, two of the Badgers’ most prolific hitters were seen replicating Coach Sheffield’s on-court behavior, and the players’ bond with their coach could be felt every second. The Badgers will be taking on Jacksonville State University today as their next NCAA game. With the players already feeling Coach Sheffield’s hyped emotions, they might be looking to rip through their opponents!

Badgers players are in high spirits ahead of their match

The NCAA Women’s Volleyball official social media account has uploaded a short clip on X (formerly Twitter) showcasing how the Wisconsin Badgers players see their beloved coach’s antics. Hitters Ella Ella Wrobel and Saige Damrow are seen on the Badgers’ court impersonating Coach Sheffield’s behavior during matches. Jersey no. 3 Damrow made a hilarious parody of how Coach Sheffield instills a fighting spirit among his players. “We gotta fiiiiight to get the ball on the ground“, Damrow’s take on Sheffield’s fighting mentality has us in splits.

Wrobel also highlights how Sheffield makes serve receives seem easy by suggesting to pass the ball. The outside hitter also gives an example of how to properly negate an attacking serve from your opponents. Wrobel also showed how Coach Sheffield runs beside the sidelines holding up his fists trying to deliver instruction to the players.

Damrow didn’t hold back and showcased how Sheffield can be a motivation just by standing in a poised manner. During the comic impersonation, she also showed how Sheffield likes to hype up the crowd to bring more energy to the matches. While everything was done with a lucid approach, the players’ endearment to their coach could be observed visibly.

Badgers want to continue their dream run

Wisconsin Badgers have been on high octane all this season. While the Badgers fell to the Nebraska Huskers for the top spot in the Big Ten title race, they’ve been consistently ranked 1 prior to their loss to the Huskers. Now, they look to dominate their opponents in the NCAA tournament.
